What is athlete’s foot?

Athlete’s foot, medically termed tinea pedis, is a fungal infection that primarily affects the feet, especially between the toes. The condition is often precipitated by prolonged moisture or sweat in the affected areas. Common symptoms include itching and burning sensations. If not addressed, athlete's foot can pave the way for secondary bacterial infections of the feet. For a comprehensive understanding of fungal infections, refer to the section titled "Fungal Infections."
