Position Summary
As a Medical Assistant at Rixis Dermatology, you'll play a pivotal role in patient care. You'll be involved in clinical duties such as taking patient histories in the electronic medical record, assisting with procedures, scribing, providing pre- and post-care instructions, and triaging clinical patient calls. Engaging with patients to ensure a comfortable and caring experience is a critical part of this role. Compassion, efficiency, and attention to detail are also key qualities for this role. Experience as a medical assistant in dermatology is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Verifying patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit
Entering medical history and visit information into our electronic health record (EHR) system
Escorting patients to exam rooms and ensuring they are prepared for the physician
Preparing patients for exams by providing them with necessary materials
Assisting physicians during medical examinations and procedures
Taking photographs for medical records
Scheduling medical procedures
Instructing patients on the correct usage of medications and phoning in prescriptions to pharmacies
Changing wound dressings, removing sutures
Collecting, logging, and packaging lab specimens for transport
Sterilizing medical instruments and managing medical supply inventory
Conducting phone triage and notifying patients of pathology and lab results
Scribing for office visits
Administering IM, SQ, and topical medications as ordered
Performing and documenting nurse visit appointments including suture removals, Patch Testing, and Biologic injections
Maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience in a medical office environment
Motivated to learn and assist with various tasks
Committed to delivering the highest level of patient care and customer service
Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred)
Thorough understanding of HIPAA regulations
Strong team player

As the first point of contact, you'll set the stage for a positive patient experience. Your responsibilities will include greeting patients, scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing patient inquiries. You'll also manage insurance, billing, and medical record inquiries from patients. We're looking for someone with strong organizational skills, a friendly attitude, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. Experience at a medical office front desk is preferred, but strong experience in customer service is an acceptable substitute. Strong communication skills and a friendly attitude are a requirement.
Key Responsibilities
Greet patients and vendors with a friendly attitude, setting a welcoming tone for their visit.
Manage multi-line phones, answering calls and addressing patient inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
Handle the check-in and check-out processes, including obtaining insurance information and other necessary patient data.
Enter and manage patient information in the electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Schedule appointments both over the phone and at the checkout desks.
Collect outstanding balances and copays, ensuring accurate financial transactions.
Provide patients with support and guidance, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to established standards and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in a medical office front desk or strong customer service background.
Familiarity with medical terminology is a plus.

You're not just managing tasks; you're leading our clinic to success. More than just an administrative role, as the Office Manager, you'll be vital in shaping patient experiences and clinic culture. You'll help oversee the scheduling system, patient feedback, staff meetings, implement office policies, and assist in billing and insurance processes. You will guide staff with their questions and assist in various roles as needed. Your ability to adapt, solve problems, and lead with empathy will make you an invaluable asset to our team. While experience as an office manager is always valuable, it is not necessary. Experience in a dermatology office and a leadership role are strongly preferred, including lead MA or front desk roles. Flexibility, a motivation to learn, and a willingness to help other staff grow are required.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and oversee office policies and procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient clinic operation
Play a key role in hiring and onboarding both administrative and clinical staff
Supervise, train, and evaluate our team, fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment
Manage staff scheduling, including setting staffing schedules and approving paid time off
Uphold high standards of customer service, ensuring a positive patient experience at every touchpoint
Collaborate closely with staff and providers to align clinic objectives and strategies
Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards, with a thorough understanding of HIPAA laws
Utilize popular software for EMR, billing, scheduling, and accurate timekeeping
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Extensive experience in a dermatology office, or associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, business, or a related field
Strong operational skills and ability to work independently
Quick learner with excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
Proven leadership skills and the ability to develop strong relationships with coworkers
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
