What is Tapinarof?
Tapinarof is a topical medication that has received FDA approval for the treatment of plaque psoriasis. Acting as an aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) modulator, it helps regulate skin inflammation and improve barrier function. Although not yet approved for atopic dermatitis (eczema), it is under study for this indication.
What are possible side effects of Tapinarof?
The most common side effects associated with tapinarof include skin irritation or redness at the site of application. Less commonly, some individuals may experience itching or a burning sensation. Should you encounter severe or prolonged side effects, discontinue the medication and consult your healthcare provider.
How is Tapinarof used?
Tapinarof is available as a cream and is generally applied once daily to the affected skin areas. A thin layer of the cream should be applied, avoiding contact with eyes, mouth, or other mucous membranes.
